The Curved Corrugated roof of the New Forest Shepherds Hut is very important, it simply wouldn't be a Shepherds hut without it! We have sourced the best quality corrugated curved roof - Corrugated Galvanised Roofing Sheets have been used on Shepherds Hut for well over 100 years. Our Shepherds Hut Roof is Plastisol coated over a galvanised sheet, they will last for forty years, untreated and a life time if looked after and given a coat of paint in the meantime. |

We've had a lovely few days in our neck of the woods, the sun has finally decided to shine! You can still enjoy the garden, whatever the weather, or whatever the season if you have a Shepherds Hut Summer House in your garden - it should really be called the New Forest Shepherds Hut All Season House because that's exactly what it is! With a cosy wood burning stove the Summer House Shepherds Hut can be enjoyed all year round a romantic quirky addition to your garden which will never be forgotten. |

We went to the New Forest Show today, we're always looking for new ideas for our Shepherds Huts to make them more versatile - we look for ways of making it possible to use a New Forest Shepherds Hut in any situation. We came across a local company with a brilliant product!! The company is called ECCOTEMP - www.abbascabins.co.uk and they've designed a gas shower that can be used outside. It's completely portable and simply connects to any standard garden hose and a standard LPG (propane gas) bottle. |

The majority of our customers prefer engineered oak flooring in their New Forest Shepherds Hut. It's hard wearing and easy to keep clean. We've been asked about natural carpets which will give a completely different feel inside the Shepherds Hut and have looked into the different types:- Natural fibres such as jute, sea grass, coir and sisal are slightly porous and, like wool carpets, can stain, so they do need the kind of care and maintenance any carpet would. You can, of course, make this easier by choosing matting that’s treated to prevent staining. |

I've just received the colour card from Colourman Paints http://www.pinebrushcolourman.co.uk/ - a beautiful card with the paint colours hand painted, you can see the texture and true colour of the paints (not like the mass produced cards where the actual paint colour on the walls, etc looks nothing like the colour card!). They are a company producing water based paints that reproduce the effects of buttermilk paints of the 18th and 19th Centuries and are perfect for furniture decoration, beams, barns, restoration, interiors, walls, doors and of course - SHEPHERDS HUTS! |

When we show people our Shepherds Hut they will often ask how we get such a perfect paint finish - there's no secret , just need to work really hard with preparation and have attention to detail (and knowledge of course!). When I took my City and Guilds in Painting and Decorating (more years ago than I care to remember!) we seemed to spend most of the first few months on preparation! preparing walls, preparing wood, mixing paint to the right consistency, etc., etc. Before I started the course I thought that preparation was a bit over rated and you could get the same results by taking short cuts. |

These plans were drawn up for a Shepherds Hut to be used whilst restoring a property in the New Forest. The clients need a bedroom with a wood burning stove. There is a mains water supply on the plot. As the Shepherds Hut won't be permanently sited for some time (until the property development is complete) we would either install a portaloo (chemical loo which would go under the bed, or under the Shepherds Hut and a wash basin with a foot pump, as you may find in a boat or caravan for hand washing, etc. |

We've recently been asked by a very good Chiropractor friend of ours (very good Chiropractor and very good friend!) to design a Shepherds Hut as a treatment room. She lives in Taunton, Somerset and has been working from home - with teenage children coming and going, she's decided that it would be more relaxing for her clients to be away from the house. A Shepherds Hut is the ideal answer, sited at the bottom of the garden and reached by a gravel path, there is no need to go into the house (there's also an outside gardeners loo on the back of the house for patients convenience! |

We have a full page feature in this months Hampshire Life Magazine - they've done the feature in a question and answer format - they asked about the our business and what makes our Shepherds Huts unique and why would someone choose to buy a Shepherds Hut from us - they managed to condense my waffle down to a couple of paragraphs for each answer! These were the two photographs they chose for the article. |
